Sheba Medical Center (also Tel HaShomer Hospital) is the main research and educational center in Israel, and the largest medical complex in the country. Founded in 1948 on the basis of an American military hospital, today it is the most modern medical center. 187 Sheba doctors are ranked to be the best doctors of Israel in 30% of disciplines (Forbes rating 2019).

Annually medical center treats 1.6 million outpatients and hospitalizes 430 thousand people. Sheba performs the largest number of surgical operations in Israel — 50 thousand a year (200 daily). In 2013, the hospital was the first in Israel to be accredited by the JCI World Commission. In 2019, it became the No. 1 clinic in Israel, and in 2020 Newsweek magazine (USA) ranked it as the 9th-best hospital in the world.
