Clinics of Israel

Israel is a popular direction among patients from all over the world. Medical tourists choose Israeli clinics due to the high quality of medical care.

There are several world-famous clinics in Israel: Ichilov (Sourasky), Rambam, Assuta, Herzliya, Hadassah. Sheba clinic is the ninth among all medical institutions in the ranking of the best hospitals in 2020 according to the Newsweek magazine.

In Israeli hospitals, you can get a qualitatively different level of medical care, compared to the CIS, in the following areas of medicine:

Oncology;
Transplantology;
Psychiatry;
Plastic surgery;
Cardiology;
Cardiac surgery;
Obstetrics and gynecology;
Rehabilitation.

High rates are achieved due to long-term training of doctors – on average 12-14 years before a doctor starts working with patients. In addition, the Israeli government invests a large amount of funds in the development of medicine and motivates the involvement of doctors in scientific work.

MedTour patients recommend clinics in Israel:

Just a quick note to say thank you MedTour for the care you took over my appointment yesterday. I am very grateful for your high standard of care and professionalism. I am also looking forward to seeing Dr. Margolin hopefully this July.

Patient was treated for in the clinic Assuta Medical Center
Recommend

I want to thank Dr. Keren-Paz and all the staff of Assuta Clinic. After being examined by a doctor in Kiev, a neoplasm was found in my kidney.

The tumor was located inside the kidney, in an inaccessible place, and jewelry skill was needed to remove the tumor while preserving the kidney. After reading a lot of information on the Internet, we chose treatment in the Assuta clinic. There I was  received very well and the doctor performed an operation using the Da Vinci robot. He returned me to a full life again. The postoperative period took a week.

The whole trip is very well organized, starting from talking to the coordinating doctor by phone and ending with the help in buying plane tickets, transfer and accommodation. My wife could accompany me on a trip and supported me.

The doctor stayed in touch with us after returning home and always answered all questions.

Benefits of diagnostics in Israel

Patients travel to Israel to receive an accurate diagnosis, a second opinion from a doctor and to establish a diagnosis in difficult clinical cases. Diagnostics in Israel are carried out using the most modern equipment, according to clear clinical protocols, and in case of a controversial diagnosis or serious pathology, the decision is always made by a council of specialists.

Various check-up programs in Israeli clinics

Israel has a developed system of preventive examinations, which are not limited to standard examinations for a specific age and gender. Diagnostic programs in Israeli clinics are painless and fast. After the check-up, the patient receives a program with lifestyle recommendations and risk-reducing therapy.

Types of check-ups in Israeli clinics:

  • Basic – check-up includes a consultation with a therapist, blood tests, urinalysis, consultation with a urologist, dermatologist, cardiological examination, ultrasound of the pelvis and abdominal cavity, CT scan of the chest organs, consultation with a nutritionist, dentist;
  • Fast – contains the same examinations as in the basic check-up, but takes place within 48 hours;
  • Male and female reproductive examinations – contains the same examinations as the basic check-up, but also includes an appointment with an obstetrician-gynecologist, an ultrasound of the mammary glands for women and a study of the prostate gland and analysis of the PSA tumor marker for men;
  • Cardiological – check-up includes blood tests, computed tomography of the heart, ultrasound of the heart vessels, electrocardiography and consultation with a cardiologist;
  • Oncological – a check-up for early diagnosis of oncological diseases includes many tests and instrumental diagnostics (on average, they are checked for 19 types of cancer).

Unique diagnostic methods in the field of cardiology

Cardiology is one of the most well-developed areas in Israel. Some of the modern methods of cardiological diagnostics available in Israel are absent in CIS hospitals.

The most modern diagnostic methods:

  • Echocardioscopy – allows doctors to trace blood flow in specific areas in detail, it is used instead of a standard ultrasound of the heart;
  • Radioisotope examination of the heart – consists in the introduction of radioisotopes into the patient’s body and detailed visualization of the walls of the atria and ventricles, septa, coronary arteries and other structures;
  • Magnetic resonance angiocardiography – examination of the walls of blood vessels using a magnetic field. The method allows to detect atherosclerosis and vasoconstriction without the harmful effects of X-ray irradiation;
  • Virtual catheterization – allows doctors to get the same data as in the catheterization of the jugular vein due to high quality multispiral CT.

Unique diagnostic methods in the field of oncology

The effectiveness of cancer treatment depends on correct and timely diagnosis. It is also important that the diagnosis is painless and does not involve unnecessary additional procedures.

Some diagnostic methods in the CIS countries are considered exclusive or not used at all, and in Israeli clinics they are considered routine practice.

Histological diagnostics

Unlike the CIS countries, histological diagnostics in Israel has clear standards that differ from the rules adopted in other countries by the number of sections and the thoroughness of the examination. The research includes not only the study of a tissue sample under a microscope, but also a large number of tests for receptors and mutations. In addition, histologists in Israeli clinics specialize in types of diseases. This approach in combination leads to a discrepancy in diagnoses between the CIS countries and Israel of at least 30%. To a greater extent, this applies to rare tumors and complex diagnoses.

PET-CT

PET-CT is included in the standard diagnosis of cancer in Israeli clinics. This method is used instead of CT-areas with contrast, which is usually used in CIS hospitals.

The essence of the method is to perform computed tomography of the whole body with the addition of a radioactive substance (most often glucose). Thus, it is possible to monitor the presence of signs of the disease in atypical places.

Liquid biopsy

A liquid biopsy (a test for circulating tumor cells, CTA) is a method that provides information about a tumor by analyzing venous blood. Circulating tumor cells are present in 70% of cancer patients, which is why this analysis is widely used in Israeli hospitals. It allows doctors to understand which treatment will be potentially effective for a particular patient.

Treatment in Israel

Treatment in Israel is most successful due to the following factors:

  • Doctors are criminally responsible for the wrong treatment;
  • There is a donor base and organ transplants from both related and unrelated donors are allowed;
  • The absence of a language barrier for Russian-speaking patients is especially important for the treatment of psychiatric, neurological diseases and rehabilitation.

Absolutely unique treatment options that are not available in other countries:

  • Artificial titanium heart – does not replace a real heart and does not provide an opportunity to live a full life, but it allows doctors to live an unlimited amount of time before organ transplantation;
  • The Spine Assist robotic system is a unique robotic system that is used to perform operations in hard-to-reach places (spinal cord, joints);
  • Hypnotic Labor – Suitable for those patients who want to be drug-free and want to avoid pain during labor.

Rehabilitation in Israel

Rehabilitation in Israel is a separate area of medicine, which is divided into:

  • Children’s room;
  • Intense;
  • Neurological;
  • Orthopedic.

The most famous are the separate rehabilitation centers Loewenstein and Reut, and the rehabilitation department of the Sourasky clinic (Ichilov).

Rehabilitation after injuries and trauma begins in the intensive care unit, continues in a regular or day hospital. For patients who cannot spend a long time in the country, an individual program is drawn up for training at home.

Rehabilitation departments include:

  • Pain management center;
  • Geriatric center;
  • General rehabilitation department;
  • Psychiatric department;
  • Center for labor and art therapy.

Such a complex and wide range of departments makes it possible to achieve significant success in rehabilitation.
