Does Medical Park perform bone marrow transplantation for children

The center performs bone marrow transplantation both for children and adults. According to the Turkish Ministry of Health in 2016, the Medical Park clinic in Antalya was the first in numbers of bone marrow transplants for children. Hospitals of the Medical Park Group also took second and third places. 443 transplants were performed for children and 335 adults in 2018. Bone marrow transplant centers are certified by the Ministry of Health and EBMT (European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplant) for autologous, allogeneic, and unrelated transplants.

Before transplantation, doctors perform HLA typing to check if the donor and patient are compatible. If the patient does not have a relative who is histologically compatible, then the procedure can be performed using stem cells from international bone marrow banks.

Patients stay in the center from 4 up to 8 weeks after surgery. To avoid complications after transplantation and reduce the risk of airborne infections, operating rooms and corridors of hospitals are equipped with a HEPA filtration system.

Why patients with oncology choose Medical Park hospitals

Medical Park Group does an integrated approach to treatment. The radiology department uses a new Tomotherapy method. The device performs radiation therapy under CT control, which helps to evaluate the size of the tumor and correct the treatment plan. Regulation of the intensity of this method will help to accurately distribute the amount of radiation directed to the affected area, which maximizes the effectiveness and significantly reduces the side effects of radiation.

Medical Park Group does HIPEC therapy. During surgery, the heated antitumor drugs are injected directly into the abdominal cavity. Chemotherapeutic drugs are injected into the area of the cancer process, instead of acting systemically and invading healthy tissues. Pre-warmed chemotherapy drugs destroy the smallest residual cancer cells that cannot be surgically removed.
