I would like to express my gratitude to the Surasky Medical Center for the qualified help in the treatment of breast cancer and special thanks to Dr. Moshe Inbar. Thanks to the prescribed radiotherapy, I managed to avoid breast removal.
It is important to note the very caring attitude of the medical staff and the comfortable conditions of the clinic, which undoubtedly helped in the treatment process.
Israeli medicine gave me the future and helped me understand that cancer is not a sentence.

Why patients with cancer choose treatment at the Sourasky Medical Center

    Modern and high-quality examination:

    • At the stage of diagnosis, the oncology department conducts special tests for cancer cell mutations. Such methods allow choosing a treatment that is not toxic to healthy cells.
    • High-definition imaging equipment (3T +, 256+ sections) shows tumor contours well, allows planning the less harmful surgery.
    • New contrasts for PET-CT (F18, C11, Ga 68, FDG, Choline, Fluciclovine, PSMA, NaF), which are used in the Ichilov Hospital, allow finding distant foci of metastases in any part of the body up to 1 mm.
    • Genetic screening shows the patient’s inclination for cancer. Such tests allow to completely curing the patient the first time, without the risk of relapse and extra doses of chemotherapy and radiation.

    The variety of treatments:

If the surgery is required, the doctors choose the necessary method: laparoscopy, a Da Vinci robot, an ultrasonic scalpel, or a cyber-knife. This allows organ-preserving surgery with minimal blood loss. Staying in the clinic takes 1-2 days, and full rehabilitation 2-3 weeks, instead of the usual 6 months.

Patients who need chemotherapy are offered safer and more effective drugs: targeted and immunotherapy. Devices that do not affect healthy tissues are used for radiation therapy. That is why patients do not lose hair and feel much better.

Highly specialized oncology for each organ system:

Doctors from more than 10 departments are involved in oncology treatment: general oncology, oncological surgery, radiation therapy, urological oncology, gynecology, neuro oncology, oncology of the endocrine system, pediatric oncology, hematology, oncology orthopedics, and others.

    Doctors experience and knowledge:

The Chief Physician of the department is Prof. Dr. med. Ido Wolf. He worked in the USA and has more than 25 years of clinical practice. His specialization is endocrine oncology. He is also involved in the development and research of cancer drugs.

Ido Wolf`s deputy is Professor Ofer Merimsky. He has more than 35 years of experience in clinical oncology and is a leading specialist in the treatment of sarcoma and lung cancer. Ofer is a speaker at conferences in France and the USA.

Why patients choose department of neurosurgery at the Sourasky Medical Center

Advanced technologies are used to perform surgery on the nervous system: an electron microscope allows clearly examining the surgical field and completely remove tumors and cysts, computer navigation compares MRI images with a picture from video cameras, which allows the doctor to move to the pathological focus bypassing blood vessels and vital important centers, robotic and endoscopic minimally invasive neurosurgery is the removal of spinal hernias and pituitary adenomas through small punctures without incision call, functional neurosurgery allows treating epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease through deep or vagal stimulation.

Professor Zvi Ram is a director of the Neurosurgery Division. He worked in the United States and has 40 years of experience. He teaches at the Department of Neurosurgery of the Medical University. Zvi is a medical editor of scientific journals, he has published more than 200 internationally recognized scientific papers. Zvi Ram has performed more than 2,500 surgeries.

Due to this, at least 1000 people annually choose treatment in the neurosurgery department of the Sourasky Medical Center. 980 of the patients are discharged from the hospital without any complications or consequences, which is the highest indicator of treatment success.

Why 95% of patients manage to return to a mobile lifestyle after treatment in the orthopedics department of the Sourasky Medical Center

Orthopedics of the Sourasky Medical Center has 6 departments in one clinic: sports medicine, shoulder surgery, hand surgery, foot, and lower leg surgery, joint surgery, and rehabilitation department.

Patients with the consequences of severe injuries receive the functional improvement of the musculoskeletal system using individually manufactured titanium prostheses on a 3D printer. In addition to titanium, prosthetics made from artificial or donor bone tissue. For children with bone cancer, temporary implants that grow with the child are used. This allows children to fully grow up despite their illness. The restoration of cartilage and ligaments in the joints is carried out using stem cells and gene therapy drugs. Israel has developed its own unique Api Fix system for straightening the spine — it allows you to straighten your back without bulky metal structures that hamper the movement in the spine. To remove hernias and rehabilitation of joints and spine, Ichilov doctors use modern copyright methods: Spinal Fusion, APOS, DISC FX, and others.

That is why more than 2,000 patients annually choose to be operated in the orthopedic department of the Ichilov Hospital.

What are the advantages of the Neurology Department in the Ichilov Hospital

Neurology is divided into daughter departments: vascular diseases of the nervous system (strokes, side effects of a head injury), treatment of autoimmune and dystrophic diseases (Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, multisystem atrophy, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), electroencephalography and epilepsy treatment center.

The most modern diagnostic methods are available for the diagnosis of these diseases: brain PET-CT, SISCOM, video-EEG monitoring, and high-density EEG, PET-MRI. These methods help to identify the correct diagnosis in the early stages of the disease and start treatment with modern and experimental drugs, such as Ocrevus, Riluzole, and Eculizumab.

Professor Nir Giladi is a Neurology Division Director with 35 years of practice. He took advanced training courses in the USA, England, Holland, and China. Why cardiac surgery in the Sourasky Medical Center is so popular among foreign patients

Cardiac surgeries are performed in a new building — Sammy Ofer Heart Center. There are several hybrid operating rooms that combine diagnostic and surgical equipment. This allows heart surgery without incisions: through small injections under the control of x-rays, CT, and ultrasound. Skilled medical experts perform stenting and shunting, change the entire aortic valve through a catheter (TAVI), and the mitral valve through a small intercostal incision, operate cardiac and aortic aneurysms and treat arrhythmia. All this is carried out on a working heart without opening the chest and cardiopulmonary bypass.

The center is headed by Dr. Yanai Ben Gal, a cardiothoracic surgeon with over 20 years of practice in Israel and the USA.

How a foreign patient can get treatment at the Sourasky Medical Center

Prior to visiting the hospital, MedTour coordinates communication between foreign patients and doctors:

    • We collect the results of the examinations in an individual patient card, compare the list with the requirements of the doctor, and translate everything into Hebrew.
    • We check the examination and treatment plan, request a preliminary calculation for each patient, helping you plan your budget and expenses.
    • We coordinate the doctor’s schedule with convenient dates of the trip. Patients do not have to wait, all the examination and treatment can be completed in one trip — we save your time.

When the patient is signed up to the clinic by the MedTour representative, we take care of the trip organization:

    • We select airline tickets, minimize transfers, find the most profitable dates, and arrange flights for patients with limited mobility.
    • We book accommodation, check photos and prices, select a safe and convenient area.
    • We arrange a pick up at the airport and a transfer.
    • We provide an individual coordinator who solves unexpected issues and defends the interests of the patient in the clinic.
