The Navio Surgical System
For patients who suffer from long-term osteoporosis and osteoarthritis of the knee, the Gil doctors can offer total or partial joint replacement using the NAVIO portable robotic system.
Unlike a standard joint replacement procedure, no CT scan is needed prior to surgery. The Navio machine can create an accurate image of the joint using a special GPS probe. On the basis of the data obtained, the doctors reconstruct a 3D computer model.
The main advantage of the Navio robotic system is the precise positioning of the implants before they are inserted. This prevents premature wear and tear on the joint and guarantees many years of activity.
Robotic surgery
The Gil Hospital surgeons use the da Vinci Xi system to perform complex, minimally invasive operations. Several mechanical «hands» are controlled by a surgeon and perform surgical procedures through small openings, monitored by video cameras.
The surgeon operates the robot on a special rig. Monitors display the surgical field in 3D with multiple magnifications.
Thanks to robotic surgery, patients are better able to undergo surgery with less blood loss and a faster recovery time. The engineering embodied in the da Vinci robot enables complex surgical procedures that are beyond the reach of a surgeon’s hand.
The da Vinci robotic system is used in urology, gastroenterology, proctology, obstetrics and gynaecology, and otorhinolaryngology.
Novalis Tx Radiation Therapy
This advanced linear accelerator allows the application of radiation therapy by means of charged particles — photons and electrons. Novalis Tx is equipped with an advanced GPS navigation system which precisely locates the tumour.
The main advantage of radiation therapy at the Gil Hospital is the reduced number of treatment sessions and the high precision of the treatment. Novalis Tx targets tumour cells with an accuracy of 1 mm.
