The Essen Department of Hematology is part of the West German Cancer Center (WTZ). The WTZ is one of 13 institutions in Germany that are certified based on the American Model Cancer Center (CCC).

Essen Clinic’s hematology center is JACIE certified. JACIE is founded by the European Society for Transplantation. Its mission is to assess and accredit hematopoietic transplantation.

Achievements

Every year, patients with the following diagnoses are treated here:

  • Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma – 450 (patients per year);
  • Myeloid leukemia – 300;
  • Lymphatic leukemia – 200.

Every year the center provides:

  • Medium, complex and intensive block chemotherapy – 600;
  • Collection of cells from bone marrow and peripheral blood for transplantation – 100.

Department specialization

The German Clinic Essen offers patients treatment in the following areas: hematology, hemato-oncology and hemostasiology. It focuses on the research and treatment of non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas.

The center conducts:

  • Application, testing and development of innovative therapy regimens;
  • High-dose therapy with autologous blood cell transplantation;
