The National Scientific Medical Center in Kazakhstan is a modern hospital that provides cardiology, interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery services to adults and children, provides check-up programs, advisory and diagnostic services.

The Center is accredited by JCI (Joint Commission International), which confirms the compliance of services and quality of treatment with the highest international standards and safety for patients.

There are more than 900 employees in the center.  Since the opening in 2011, more than 3400 surgical operations have been carried out. In 2012, a donor heart transplant was performed to the patient. Innovative clinical projects are being implemented for patients with cardiac pathologies such as surgical treatment of chronic heart failure, interventional treatment of valve heart defects and interventions for children with a congenital heart defect.

CNMC has established partnerships and actively cooperates with leading clinics in Belgium, Germany, USA, Turkey and Italy. The main directions of the National Scientific Medical Center are heart rhythm disorders, ischemic heart disease, treatment of acquired and congenital heart defects, heart failure.

What are some of the accomplishments of the NNCC?

In 2018, the center performed a unique and world-first surgery to implant a circulatory assist device (FIVAD). Unlike a VAD device, it allows patients to live without a direct connection to an external power source. Since wired devices increase infection rates. This technology is completely changing the quality of life for people with heart disease.

After the surgery, the 24-year-old patient returned to a normal lifestyle. He was even able to swim, which was not possible with conventional devices (with cables). With positive long-term data, this technology could be a good alternative to heart transplantation, which in turn is limited by a shortage of donors.

After the surgery, the 24-year-old was able to live a normal life, something that would have been impossible with conventional devices (with cables).

The center has been performing surgeries with the VAD circulatory assist device since 2011. But the most complex operation in the world – lung transplantation – has been performed since 2016.

And the most complex operation in the world – lung transplantation.
