    Frequently Asked Questions

    1
    How to prepare for the IVF procedure at Memorial Antalya?

    The first meeting with the doctor is scheduled the day before the expected menstruation. Both future parents must attend the appointment with test results.

    Treatment begins on the 2nd day of the menstrual cycle and lasts an average of 21 days. A woman needs to stay at Memorial Antalya for 15 to 21 days, with about 10 days of which she will undergo stimulation.

    The next step involves the collection of eggs and the husband’s semen, their combination, and fertilization. On the 5th day, the embryo is transferred (for fresh transfer). If a cryo protocol is planned, the embryos are frozen for transfer in the next cycle or another time agreed upon with the reproductive specialist.

    After the replantation, an HCG test is performed 10 days later to establish pregnancy.

    To carry out IVF at Memorial Antalya, it is necessary to have a document confirming the legal marriage, two photos of both future parents, as well as all medical records that patients have.

    The rules above are general. Each couple is unique, and additional tests and examinations may be required based on the specific situation.

    What tests are required to undergo an IVF procedure at Memorial Antalya?

    Women need to prepare for tests such as:

    • Complete blood count and blood group;
    • Blood test for thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH);
    • Blood test for TORCH infections (toxoplasmosis, rubella, cytomegalovirus, herpes virus, HIV, hepatitis, chickenpox, syphilis, chlamydia, enterovirus);
    • Prolactin level in blood.

    For men, the list of tests is somewhat shorter and includes the following:

    • Blood group;
    • Blood test for hepatitis B and C;
    • Test for the presence of antibodies to HIV;
    • Semen analysis (spermogram).

    All tests, except the semen analysis, can be taken in any hospital, but the semen analysis must be taken directly at Memorial Antalya. This is due to the period and conditions of storage of seminal fluid. Semen collected for a spermogram should not be stored for a long time, as this may affect the quality of the sample. Therefore, it is recommended to carry out semen analysis within 2-3 hours after its collection and it is important to adhere to this period for reliable results.

    What examinations are carried out during pregnancy management at Memorial Antalya?
    • 4th-7th weeks: Initial pregnancy monitoring at Memorial Antalya. The first includes a health assessment of the woman (glucose level, liver and kidney function, thyroid hormones, and the presence of antibodies to common infections). In addition, a urine test will help monitor the general health of a pregnant woman.
    • 12th week: An important step is a double test (NIPT fetal DNA test) to detect chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus.
    • 16th week: If for some reason a double test was not performed in the 12th week of pregnancy, it is recommended to perform a quadruple test (Quad screen) at this time, which is used to assess the risk of developing chromosomal abnormalities and some other disorders in the fetus.
    • 21st week: Detailed ultrasound of the fetus, lasting up to 60 minutes, during which the main parameters of the child are determined.
    • 24th week: Test to detect gestational diabetes using a glucose tolerance test (sugarloaf), as well as a complete blood and urine test.
    • 32th week: Repeat general blood and urine tests to assess the health of the pregnant woman.
    • 34th week: NST test to assess fetal heart rate. During this period and beyond, ultrasound and NST are performed at every appointment.
    • Prenatal preparation: Mandatory tests include a complete blood count, liver function assessment, blood clotting, blood typing, tests for COVID-19 and other infections.

    Remember that depending on your health condition, your doctor may recommend additional tests.
