Hospital network «Asklepios»: Barmbek

Asklepios Klinik Barmbek was built in 2005 and since then has received many prestigious awards for its high standards of medical care for patients from all over the world.
The clinic has 18 departments with a capacity of 620 inpatients at a time. The clinic has 1,600 medical staff, treating 80,000 patients around the clock throughout the year.

Comfortable stay

During their treatment, patients are accommodated in the PRIVITA Comfort Ward. Separate single rooms are equipped with bathroom, functional furniture, TV, and Internet. The clinic provides services and meals. Relatives and friends stay in one of the hotels next to the clinic.

Asklepios Barmbek is located next to the S-Bahn (city railroad), which gives good transport connections to Hamburg airport and the city center.
The hospital accepts documents in Russian, English and German and also helps with air travel and visa arrangements.

External audit and certification

The individual departments and medical centers of Asklepios Barmbek are subject to regular certifications and quality checks of the medical care provided:
  • The oncology departments are inspected by the institute OnkoZert together with the German Cancer Society (DKG). The Clinic of Senology (Breast Diseases) has been successfully accredited by the German Society of Senology (DGS). Since 2009 also the Colorectal Center has been certified as a colorectal oncology clinic.
  • The German Society for General and Visceral Surgery (DGAV) has certified the Center for Liver and Gastrointestinal Surgery. It employs cutting-edge expertise and minimally invasive techniques in tumor surgery.
  • The Myasthenia Surgical Center has implemented the diagnostic and treatment standards of the German Myasthenia Society and is certified annually. Patients from all over the world undergo treatment for rare autoimmune diseases.
  • The German Parkinson’s Association together with the Deutsche Parkinson Vereinigung (dPV) conducts an external audit of the Parkinson’s Disease Center every few years.

Center for Visceral Medicine

The department brings together a team of abdominal surgeons, oncologists and gastroenterologists who together treat diseases of the liver, pancreas, stomach and other gastrointestinal organs. Oncology is one of the main fields of activity of the center.
