Symptoms of oral cancer

Cancer on the oral mucosa presents with these signs and symptoms:

  • A growth or lump inside your mouth
  • Mouth pain
  • A lip or mouth sore that doesn’t heal
  • Difficult or painful swallowing
  • A white or reddish patch on the inside of your mouth
  • Loose teeth
  • Ear pain

When to see a doctor

Make an appointment with your doctor or dentist if you have persistent signs and symptoms that are troublesome and last for more than two weeks. Your doctor will likely first check for other, more common causes of these signs and symptoms, such as an infection.
