Pulmonary hypertension treatment
Pulmonary hypertension is a disease, which could be described as an increased pressure in blood vessels of the lungs. High pressure in the lungs leads to impaired blood flow, high blood pressure and overloading of the heart.
If hypertension is left untreated, circulation is impaired and oxygen consumption in the lungs decreases. In the latter stage, pulmonary hypertension leads to heart failure.
Diagnostics: functional tests with stress, X-ray, ECG, Doppler, examination with a catheter, vasoreactive test.
Treatment: drug therapy, atrial septostomy, complex heart and lung transplant, pulmonary artery denervation, gene therapy.
