Dilated cardiomyopathy treatment
Dilated cardiomyopathy is a disorder characterized by an abnormality in the structure and function of the myocardium (heart muscle). With this disease, the left ventricle greatly expands: the phase of blood filling (diastole) and expulsion of blood (systole) is disrupted.
Patients with dilated cardiomyopathy have cardiac abnormalities in the form of arrhythmias and heart failure. Possible causes include genetic changes and environmental factors.
