Joint Replacement
Turan & Turan Clinic pays great attention to endoprosthetics (joint replacement). The hospital performs various joint replacements, and most often the clinic is contacted for the treatment of the hip and knee joint.
Three types of hip joint surgeries are performed at Turаn & Turan Health:
- Total hip replacement. In this case, an artificial prosthesis is implanted. This is the most popular procedure.
- Hemiarthroplasty. This is a partial replacement of the hip joint, when either the femoral head or the acetabulum are replaced.
- Joint resurfacing. It is usually applied to young patients.
Knee joint arthroplasty can also be performed either completely or partially. Moreover, the operation can be performed using the NAVIO robotic system from Smith + Nephew. This allows for endoprosthetics to be performed with high precision and maximum quality. In addition, Smith + Nephew implants can be installed, which have increased strength and make the implants more durable.
Robotic spine surgery
Turan & Turan Clinic performs spinal surgeries using the most advanced technologies. Highly skilled surgeons use the Mazor robotic guidance system for preoperative or intraoperative planning.
The platform provides rigid fixation of the patient’s spine. Registration is conducted through a scanning system, after which the 3D model of each vertebral segment is compared with its actual position on the operating table. This allows surgeons to use surgical instruments with maximum precision and correctly place spinal implants during surgery. The use of robotic systems increases the efficiency of the surgery and the precision of manipulations.
Orthobiology
Orthobiological medicines are actively used to treat joint diseases. This is an innovative treatment method that is based on scientific research and has an evidence base. Their use allows for the activation of regenerative processes, reduction of inflammation, remove stiffness, speed up recovery and delay the need for surgery.
The following methods are used for treatment:
- PRP injections. The patient’s own plasma is taken, enriched with platelets and modulating factors, and injected into the patient.
- Stem cells. Stem cells from the patient’s bone marrow or fat are used.
Doctors select the type of orthobiological drug depending on the disease and the patient’s condition.
Cartilage tissue restoration
Cartilage tissue damage is one of the most common orthopedic problems. Turan & Turan uses various methods to treat such diseases. The most commonly used include:
- Arthroscopic cartilage restoration. It is used for minor changes in cartilage tissue.
- Matrix-induced autologous chondrocyte implantation (MACI). This procedure consists of two parts. First, a fragment of cartilage tissue is taken, and a special patch with cartilage cells is created in the laboratory. After 1.5 months, the biopatch is implanted into the joint.
- Osteochondral autograft transplantation. In this case, a small flap of cartilage is taken from another area and transplanted to the site of the cartilage defect.
- Osteochondral allograft transplantation. This procedure involves the implantation of cartilage tissue from a donor. The graft can be from a living donor or obtained from a tissue bank.
