For this purpose, the Research Center was established at the institute, which includes a research department and a laboratory of placental stem cells.
Cryobank of stem cells in Ukraine
Stem cells are produced at the Cryobank in Ukraine, after which they are delivered to Georgia by international courier companies.
The first licensed Cryobank of stem cells in Ukraine was opened on the basis of the Institute of Cell Therapy in Kyiv. This is the only cell storage facility in the country that has the equipment and technologies to carry out the full cycle of biomaterials processing – from stem cell isolation to their cultivation.
Cryobank is a complex of sterile rooms, occupying more than 700 m2, built in accordance with Ukrainian and international quality and safety standards. The bank allows to carry out a full cycle of biological material processing, including PCR analysis of samples.
Using the latest technology, the biomaterial is frozen according to a special program that ensures high cell survival (up to 96%) and stored in liquid nitrogen at a temperature of –196°C. Each sample is labeled and quality characteristics are noted.
An exclusive method of cryopreservation of the placenta, developed by specialists from the Institute of Cell Therapy, allows you to save the entire range of biologically active substances: vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, trace elements, hormones, biologically active substances and regulatory proteins.
