Helios Krefeld clinic: Cardiology center

Germany, Krefeld (Dusseldorf)
4.00
Excellent(4.001 review)

The department has over 7 awards for excellence.

  • German Society of Cardiology (DHA);
  • The supra-regional center for the treatment of heart failure.

In the cardiology department of Helios Krefeld, targeted sclerotherapy (ablation) of the heart muscle is performed. Every year doctors in the department perform more than 1000 ablations.

Ablation

This procedure is performed using a catheter. It is passed through a blood vessel in the groin to the heart. Before the procedure at the Helios Krefeld Hospital, it is compulsory to carry out an electrophysiological examination of the heart (EPU). If necessary, German doctors combine cardiac ablation with surgery (surgical ablation).

Heart valve replacement (TAVI)

More than 250 heart valve replacement operations are performed at the Helios Heart Center annually. For this, German cardiac surgeons use a special catheter with a balloon and a folded valve. The entire operation is performed in a high-tech operating room.

Clipping of the mitral valve Mitra-Clip (Mit-raClip)

Catheter-supported valve reconstruction using the MitraClip is a minimally invasive procedure. It reduces mitral valve leakage (mitral valve insufficiency) without surgery.

The Cardiology Department of the Helios Krefeld Clinic is one of the most experienced centers in Germany in the treatment of mitral regurgitation. To date, a team of experienced cardiologists led by Klus has successfully treated more than 500 patients with mitral valve insufficiency.
