When should a prenatal ultrasound be performed?

1. At 11-14 weeks of pregnancy. If at the first visit to ultrasound, the fetus and mother have no pathologies, next time examination is carried out in the second trimester.
2. At 13-21 weeks of pregnancy. During the second ultrasound, the doctor assesses the condition of the uterus and fetus, volume of amniotic fluid, structure and location of placenta and umbilical cord.
3. At 30-34 weeks of pregnancy. The third and last compulsory ultrasound. The main goal — to determine the fetus position in the uterus, to assess size of the fetus, degree of maturity and state of placenta, as well as the work of the child’s cardiovascular system.

How is the IVF procedure performed at the Adonis Family Medical Center?

Artificial insemination takes place in several stages:

1. Hormonal stimulation of superovulation — carried out with the help of drugs and ensures the maturation of many follicles.
2. Follicle puncture under ultrasound control. The procedure is performed under anesthesia. The embryologist evaluates the quantity and quality of eggs and prepares them for fertilization.
3. Fertilization of oocytes. A sperm is injected into mature eggs. A few days later, the fertility doctor selects the best 1-2 embryos and prepares them for the transfer of the mother’s uterus.
4. Transfer of embryos into the uterine cavity under ultrasound control. The duration of the procedure is 5 minutes. After that, the doctor prescribes medicines for the favorable development of the embryo.
