He is the head of the unit for the reconstruction of peripheral nerve fibers of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Israeli diagnostic and treatment center Ichilov Sourasky. The doctor leads the Association of Laser Neurosurgery of Israel, holding the position of director.

Dr. Rochkind is known far beyond the country for his scientific achievements – he actively introduces into medical practice such modern trends in neurosurgery as microsurgery of the nervous system using an endoscope, bioengineering technologies for surgery of diseases of the nervous system, laser surgery, and phototherapy.

The doctor also conducts continuous scientific and educational activities. He holds the position of senior lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine of the State University of Israel in Tel Aviv and directs the center for postgraduate education and advanced training of neurosurgeons in Israel.

Doctor’s specialty

Dr. Rochkind’s clinical interests include:

  • restorative microsurgical operations on damaged peripheral nerves, as well as for tumors and other diseases;
  • surgical interventions for damage to the peripheral nervous system;
  • reconstruction of the spinal cord and peripheral nerve;
  • performing spinal surgeries;
  • return of sensitivity and motor activity to different areas of the body;
  • spina bifida in children;
  • surgical interventions for pathologies of the peripheral brachial plexus, diseases of the cauda equina;
  • treatment of vertebral hernias;
  • experimental studies on the use of bioengineering technologies in the reconstruction of complete damage to the peripheral nerve and spinal cord;
  • urgent surgical interventions;
  • the use of endoscopic technology when performing neurosurgical operations (for example, endoscopic surgery for tumors of the spinal cord, spine, the use of an endoscope for hydrocephalus of the brain, etc.);
  • microsurgical treatment of pinched nerves;
  • microsurgical treatment of intra- and extramedullary tumors of the spinal cord;
  • active use of laser technologies in the surgical treatment of diseases of the nervous system;
  • microsurgical reconstruction for damage to the facial nerve;
  • pediatric neurosurgery (in which the doctor uses only highly effective and minimally invasive methods);
  • restoration and transplantation of nerves (including artificial ones) for gunshot wounds and loss of limbs.
