About doctor Audreus Aidetis

Professor Audrius Aidetis is an experienced cardiologist and one of the first specialists in Lithuania to use the latest methods of cardiac stimulation to treat cardiac arrhythmias. He has been involved in the development and implementation of minimally invasive transcatheter technologies in the treatment of heart valves, radiofrequency catheter ablation, catheter treatment of atrial fibrillation, surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation both using cardiopulmonary bypass and without the use of cardiopulmonary bypass.

Audrius Aidetis has the title of Honored Doctor of Lithuania, he was awarded for special services in the field of introducing new treatment methods and devices in the field of cardiac surgery.

Under the leadership of Professor Aidetis, the following operations were carried out for the first time in Lithuania: the country’s first catheter implantation of the aortic valve, both through the femoral artery and through the apex of the heart, catheter thrombectomy, catheter implantation of the pulmonary valve through the femoral vein, catheter closure of mitral paraplanner fistulas through the apex of the heart.

In 2013, the world’s first minimally invasive surgery to treat mitral regurgitation was performed.

The professor is engaged in scientific activities in the field of electrophysiological diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmias, including using the “CARTO” (three-dimensional mapping system). He is leading a number of clinical studies. The doctor completed internships in the USA, Germany and Sweden. He also wrote more than 150 scientific articles and participated in many international conferences and seminars.

Since 2003, Dr. Aidetis has been working as a cardiologist and electrophysiologist at the Kardiolita Hospital.
