About doctor Susana Rives Sola

Susana Rives Sola is a highly qualified hematologist, oncological hematologist, widely known outside the country.

The doctor is the Head of the Department of Hematopoietic Tumors and a specialist physician in the Department of Pediatric Oncology at the Sant Joan de Déu Children’s Hospital.

The doctor is actively involved in both medicine and scientific research. She is the representative of Spain in the International group of pediatric leukemia and lymphoma in the International BFM-SG. Since 2013, Susana Rives Sola has been a member of the ALL treatment protocol development committee within the Spanish Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology (SEHOP/ALL 2013). The doctor coordinates the activities of the SEHOP working group on chronic myeloid leukemia. Susana Rives Sola is a member of the committee for the treatment and diagnosis of falciform cell anemia within the Spanish Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology (SEHOP/ECF 2010).

Since 2013 – Collaborating lecturer on the Master’s degree in Pediatric Nursing.

Since 2015 – Collaborating lecturer on the Master’s degree in Biomedicine at the University of Barcelona.

Since 2016 – Coordinator of the Master’s degree in Pediatric Hematology together with Dr. Ofelia Cruz at the University of Barcelona.

Dr. Susana Rives Sola is the principal investigator of 5 clinical trials of CAR-T therapy (academic and pharmaceutical industry) for the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in children.

The doctor’s clinical and scientific interests include:

  • childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL);
  • pediatric Philadelphia-positive leukemia;
  • CAR-T therapy for childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia;
  • therapy for chronic myeloid leukemia.

    Graduated from the University of Barcelona, Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery.

    Specialization in Hematology and Hemotherapy at the Clinical Hospital in Barcelona.

    Internship in the Department of Leukemia and Lymphoma at SSaint Jude Children's Research Hospital (USA).

    Internship in the Department Cancer Immunotherapy at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (USA).
