About doctor Oksana Solodiannykova

Oksana Solodiannykova is an outstanding scientist in the field of radiology, she founded her own scientific school, the main activity of which is radionuclide diagnostics and therapy of oncological diseases. The results of the conducted studies, which were conducted under the guidance of Oksana Solodiannykova, were successfully implemented in clinical practice.

In 2003, the administration of the Institute of Oncology of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (today the National Cancer Institute) invited Dr. Solodiannykova to the position of head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine.

The department, which she headed, deals with radionuclide diagnostics of malignant diseases, as well as radionuclide therapy using radioactive iodine, strontium, phosphorus and other radiopharmaceuticals.

Under the guidance of Dr. Solodiannykova, a number of innovative diagnostic techniques were introduced into clinical practice, including:

  • Intraoperative detection of sentinel lymph nodes;
  • Mammoscintigraphy with the use of various radionuclide pharmaceuticals in breast cancer;
  • Methods of radionuclide monitoring of patients with medullary thyroid carcinoma.

Her research activity also helped to develop new therapeutic techniques, such as the treatment of patients with bone pain with metastatic bone damage using phosphorus 32, strontium 89 and, for the first time in Ukraine, samaria 153.

Oksana Solodiannykova closely and fruitfully cooperates with international specialized organizations and the IAEA.

  • 2003 – to present – Head of the Nuclear Medicine Department of the National Cancer Institute.
